• Family Origin. ^{631,632,633,634,635,636} My Roos family were of Jewish descent and originally from the town of Rosas, Spain. My family followed the Roman conquest north into Belgium and then into the Rhine River area. Roos can be found with various spellings such as Rosa, Roosa, de Roos and de Roosa. The name Roos originated in England and was derived from a residence of the original bearer who lived under the sign of rose, either a picture or a crude drawing. Our surname can also be found in Greece where it meant “the rose".

Barbara married Uli Burgy, son of Burgy and Burgy, about 1640. (Uli Burgy was born in 1615 in Switzerland ^{620,621,622,623} and died about 1690 in Biglen, Bern, Switzerland.)
