Isaac Jacob Truax
Noted events in his life were: • Occupation. I I owned a tavern on the Old King's Highway between Schenectady and Albany, in the midst of the Albany Pine bush. The area was known to be a lair for fur smugglers, brigands and other miscreants especially during the Revolution. Isaac was a Tory sympathizer. My tavern was a popluar meeting place for Loyalists Rumors had it that imprudent guests were often robbed and murdered in the night at my tavern, their bodies never to be found. The tavern was excavated and revealed that rumor was indeed fact. Several human skeletons were found buried in what was the cellar floor. Isaac married Maria Wyngaard, daughter of Unknown and Unknown, on 16 Jun 1750 in Albany County, New York. (Maria Wyngaard was christened on 27 Sep 1729 and died on 10 May 1802.) |
