Isaac Cornelis Swits
Noted events in his life were: • Kidnapped. One of my sons and I were taken captive when Schnectady was attacked in 1690. When I returned home in July, I found that my land had been appropriated for defense. My orchard was cut down and my home ruined. I filed a petition with the Governor and Council in November 1704 and again on October 21, 1706 for thirty pounds or a parcel of land on the Norman's creek. On April 16, 1706, I received a deed from Indian proprieters for 1,000 acres along the south side of the Mohawk from Alplaus to Rosendale. However, I had already died, so the deed was given to my son Cornelius on October 2, 1708. • will, 1 Apr 1701. • Will probated, 4 Oct 1707. Isaac married Susanna Groot, daughter of Symon Symonse Groot and Rebecca Du Trieux, in 1676. (Susanna Groot was born in 1664 and died before 1688.) Isaac next married Rebecca Groot, daughter of Symon Symonse Groot and Rebecca Du Trieux, about 1688. (Rebecca Groot was born in 1653.) |
