Noted events in his life were: • Surname History. My family was originally from Delftland from which we had to flee due to religious persecution by the Duke of Alva. • Served. I came to New Amsterdam in the service of the Dutch West Indies Company. • lived. We lived in New Amsterdam until about 1651, when we moved to the colony of Albany. • Occupation: cooper and merchant. • elected, 1656. In 1656, I was selected as an elder in the Dutch Reformed Church. • Served, 1657. In 1657, I served as Orphan Master. • elected, 1660-1661. In 1660 and 1661, I was elected a magistrate. He was so respected for his virtue that the family arms of Wendell were made into a stained glass window and installed in the Dutch Church. • Court Case, Bef 1661. I appeared in court to legalize the distribution of my property among my children before my second marriage to Maritze Vosburg. • will, 30 Jun 1663. Evert married Susanna Du Trieux, daughter of Phelippe Antoine Du Trieux and Susanna Du Chesne, on 31 Jul 1644 in Dutch Reformed Church, New Amsterdam. (Susanna Du Trieux was born in 1626 in New Amsterdam and died in 1660 in Fort Orange, New Netherlands.). The cause of her death was childbirth. Noted events in their marriage were: • Ceremony.
