• Family Origin. 671 There are many variations of the Longanecker name I found over 10 different spellings and some of the names were different in the same family. Examples Langanecker, Longnecker Langnegger, Longacre, Longaker, Longanaker Longenecker etc
Ulrich Longaneck who was born in Switzerland in 1664 immigrated to America when he was 69 years old in 1773. His brother Daniel Longanecker immigrated as early as 1719. He possibly immigrated with John Ulrich Burgy. Daniel was a Mennonite minister and Christian Ulrich's son was a Mennonite Minister as well. They both continued in their ministerial duties even after immigrating.
Langenegger is of French origin. The family departed from France about 1572. They were present at the massacre of St. Bartholomew in 1572 and the persecution of the French Huguenots in 1678.
