information on the Strohs came from the book The Descendants of Michael Stroh. Michael was born in the village of Sprenli or Spriengolin in Germany and at the invitation of Queen Catherine of Rusia (German) he went to Russia when h was 18 years old. He was single and went viz the ship New Drinka and arrived in Oranienbaum on May 30, 1776. The records indicate his profession as 'a weaver of stockings'. In 1768 at the age of 25, he married Elizabeth Krening in Frank Russia.
