In his will, mentions sons Robert and Peter. Following in the footsteps of John, Bishop of Worcester, who may have been his uncle or great-uncle, he was educated at Oxford and served the same church in Westbury. His brother, James was father of the Tyrconnel line of Carpenters whose descendants are believed to include the Simon Carpenter who was located in Virginia in 1658 and Queen Elizabeth.
