They were from Hingham, Norfolk and settled at Hingham, MA in 1635 where he was granted land in 1636. Later children were born in this country. He was a carpenter by trade and was a Proprietor in Hingham in 1636. The story of their arrival in Hingham is confirmed by the record of Daniel Cushing who recorded Norfolk immigrants in a journal from 1633 on. ("Daniel Cushing's Record," NEHGS "Register," Vol 15, pg. 25) John married Francis Carpenter, daughter of William Carpenter and Mary Batt, before 1632 in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA. (Francis Carpenter was born in 1612 in Hingham, Norfolk, England and died on 28 Jan 1689 in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.) |
