• Biography. 573 HISTORY OF THE ANDREWS FAMILY JOHN ANDREWS, probably born in Eng., is called "Corporal." He was a baker, & had wife Sarah , who died April 29, 1666. He died intestate at Ipswich, March 13, 1662. He was an inhabitan t of Ipswich in 1646, when he with others gave a day's work to carting binds, the rate toward s the cart bridge, then just built, where the stone bridge now is; with the title of "Jr.. " He subscribed towards Major Dennison's allowance in 1648.
John Andrews, of Ipswich, husbandman, sold [land] to widow Mary Webster, of same, acknowledge d 14, 8mo 1652. John Andrews, of Ipswich, yeoman, & Sarah, his wife, sold [land] to Mr. Rich ard Dumer, of same, Nov. 14, 1659. He was a surveyor of highways in 1661.
John Andrews & wife Sarah, of Ipswich, sold [land] to William Fellows Feb. 17, 1659. Corpora l John Andrews, died intestate. The inventory of his estate taken May 23, 1662, by John Dowl ettell. John Hawthorne & Andrew Mansfield were executors. The real estate consisted o f 1 dwelling house, 2 barns, a bake house, an orchard, & 100 acres of upland & meadow. Swor n to by Mr. Thomas Andrews, the 27,4, '62, administrator. The value of the crops was referre d to the Court at Ipswich, because the farm was mortgaged & because of drought. Thomas Andre ws, the administrator, was brother of the deceased, & the same who was the schoolmaster.
John married Sarah Connant. (Sarah Connant died on 29 Apr 1666.)
