Lysbeth Du Trieux
Lysbeth married Evert Van Eps, son of Johannes Dirkse Van Eps and Elizabeth Janse Douw, on 19 Jul 1729 in Schenectady, Albany, New York. (Evert Van Eps was born in 1684.) Marriage Notes: Evert's father was Jan Van eps who was the son of the original trustee of the town Schenectady, New York and one of its original land-owners. In the general massacre that occured there 8 of February 1690 when the French and Indians came down from Canada, Jan Van Eps fell a vicitm to the tomahawk. Among the few who escaped death at this time, running barefooted through the snow towards Albany, was Evert Van Eps son of Jan. With other refugees he returned some time later to the desolated settlement at Schenectady where there remained but one family, which had been spared by the marauders. |
