ne MARIKEN AERT WILLEMSDR, widow of JAN ANTHONISZ KUIJST, died before 1628, probably in Andel, North Brabant.
Her last will and testament was dated January 29, 1623, in which she made the following provisions:
- she must be buried in the church of NeerAndel
- she forbids her heirs or children to sell any of the inherited goods.
- her heirs are only allowed to use it and keep the profit. If one of her heirs dies without children, their part that was inherited by him/her must be given back to the other heirs.
- the heirs are: -Heijman Ghijsberts, husband of IJken Jan Kuijsten and Leendert Dircxsz, husband of Teuntgen Jan Kuijsten, sons-in-law, and daughters of Mariken.
- the [before named] sons-in-law are also guardians over Jan and Margrietgen, orphan children of the deceased Aert Jansz Kuijst, late son of Mariken, and Jenneken Anthonis Matheusdr and over Lijntje, daughter of the deceased Lijntgen Jan Kuijsten, late daughter of Marike and Anthonis Cornelisz.
- finally 150 guilders have to be given away; 50 to the church of NeerAndel, plus 50 to the poor of Andel, and 50 to Henrixken Herman Huijberts. (Woudrichen R467; transcribed and translated by Jos de Kloe.)
Mr. De Kloe goes on to explain why he is convinced that the Heijman Ghijsberts, mentioned above is in fact Heijman Ghijsberts [Rosa], as Heijman Ghijsberts is never found using the surname Rosa/Roza:
In Andel there is only one man, in this time period, that bore the name Heijman Ghijsberts; up to 1750 no one else in the village carried this combination of first name and patronymic name. The name Heijman is a rare name anyway in this village (later typical to the Rosa clan). Years later appear a Jan Heijmans Roza and a Govert Heijmans Rosa, both having daughters named Eijke. Jan first uses the name Rosa in 1654, Govert first in 1653. There are some clear examples of properties that are inherited from the Kuijst family into the Rosa family of Andel. An example is lot nr. 276 on the map of 1601 (see GTMWB 1985). In 1601 it is owned by Jan Anthonisz Kuijst, in 1668 it is owned by Jan Heijmans (Rosa). No transactions are known in between those years.
