Noted events in his life were: • Education. I studied in the law and traveled abroad to prepare for work as an official in municipal employment. • Served, 1618. In 1618 he served as the treasurer of the Synod of Dordrecht. • Served, 1622. 396 In 1622, I served on the Dordrecht town council taking my father's place. • Served. I served Dordrecht not only as a coucelman (alderman) but also as mayor (burgomaster) as well. • Served, 1644. In 1644, I served as an envoy to Sweden. • Served. I was chosen to represent Dordrecht in the States of Holland and in the States General Assembly serving on many government committees • Revolted. I was one of the leaders in the revolt against William II, Prince of Orange, which resulted in the establishment of the Dutch Republic. Jacob married Anna Van Den Korput about 1598. |
